The Royal Aero Club – Racing, Rally and Records Association of Great Britain organise the British Air Racing season, including the Schneider Trophy and Kings Cup Air races, arrange air tour rallies to all parts of the UK and the near continent and ratify any aviation records you may wish to make.
As a UK organisation, we are here to help you fulfil your aviation dreams and further your experience and skill set with safety, mentoring and enjoyment at the forefront of our remit.
To begin preparation for another fantastic summer season of events, races, and experiences, we are hosting an "Air Race Training Day".
These are open days at Popham Airfield on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April 2024. The days are free to attend and open to those who have or close to a minimum of 100 hours P1. Both days are identical and so you just have to choose which day you wish to attend.
Any interested pilot can meet the team and gather information on the British Air Racing series of weekend air races and all our other activities. During the morning, there will be a short ground school that will include Air Race Theory, Rules, Regulations and Techniques. After lunch, if you have flown in with your own plane, there will be the option of taking an experienced air race check pilot as passenger, around a short course who will explain and mentor the basic flying and navigation skills required.
You also have the option on the Saturday evening to meet club members at a social event at The Wheatsheaf Pub and Hotel, RG25 2BB. Accommodation can also be booked here if required.
